Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between - J.A. Saare This was the run of the mill vamp book for me...until I got hooked - line and sinker! The author got me with a charater reveal I wasn't expecting. I love surprises! To be honest there wasn't much in the way of character development. (That is probably why I was surprisedby Disco's real name being Gabriel! because you don't know anything about anybody!) There were many chapters that the author introduced random party goers; only later to be inserted in chapters with a much larger part and I had no idea who they were. The search feature was handy with this book - I went back a lot. BUT, I forgave it because the story got dark and twisted and steamy about halfway through and it didn't let up! Real good stuff in here...different twists. There were a couple of major flaws in the editing. The worst one was in the best chapter for me...chapter 21. Where Rhia gets the visit from the P.I., and she is letting the P.I. have it. Rhia's story goes from like 2 weeks after the murder of the stepfatherto the present in the same paragraph - it may have even been in the same sentence. It kind of took a little something from that uber important scene! I just can't believe it was missed. Enough said. It won't keep me from reading on though. It is a great start to the series. Even with the flaws in the beginning, it got better and better and better. We have all read books that start out great and peter out... This one is better in my opinion because it starts out slowly and builds up to a fantastic ending!
